I'm posting historic films and film clips from the rich history of workplace and environmental health and safety that can be helpful in understanding today's issues. These are primarily from government and industrial films created before 2000 and most are in the public domain. The films and clips discussed here are an excellent resources for teachers and for health and safety trainers. The films and clips can be very useful as triggers for discussions and to liven up training, especially the many refresher training required these days. For each film and clip, there is information on the original source, how the clip continues to be relevant and links to additional sources of information. Contact me at mdcatlin@verizon.net for more information. I hope you find my channel interesting and useful.

My Czechoslovakian great grandpa worked in one of the Youngstown steel mills, what a hard job and life!
she blinded me with SCIENCE! literally
that is so interesting
I was 11 and at a friend's house in North Long Beach and we clearly heard the explosion. Thought it was an earthquake at first.
When it comes down to it, the person who started it, lived on Old Maple Trail. Guaranteed.
Ethyl FTW!
Where can I watch the movie, "Under the Eightball"?
Many years later it is still true
So this is what’s in Flavorades, huh….
I am reading Empire of Pain and just finished the part on this incident. NAPP was not fined nearly enough for this happening. Rest in Peace to those who lost their lives that day. This negligent incident could have easily been avoided had NAPP not agreed to contracting work using all different sorts of chemicals, educated their employees, and trained them properly.
Were the cows “reused” or were they sent to slaughter following one infection / collection?
Wow, that's a whole bunch!

If you’re interested in what it was like at Youngstown Sheet and Tube as well as RG Steel in Warren pick up a copy of my book, “Steeltown Down,” available at Amazon Books. It’s about my 43 years spent in both mills and what it was like to be one of the last three men at Sheet and Tube, and the very last man at RGSteel on their last days of operations. I also worked with a demolition crew for five years tearing down RGSteel and that’s why I was the last employee there. If you read the book I think you’ll get a much better understanding of how hard a steelworkers’ job was and still is.
Wonder how many people died from their job here
Thank you for posting this, Mark!
Unfortunatly for these folks, if they smelled it they definetly did not die a natural death
"yesss, that's ri-- no..! NO!! YOU DAPPER FOOL, NOT THE FOLDING CHAIR" >young American lad jumps from the rafters and body slams the flames off

They just use the entire planet as their petri dish now.
It may seem bleak, but if we didn't have this then how would a generation of young men have killed each other in the mud?

Very useful information 🙃
We are their pest; depopulation is non-stop from all angles. Air, water, food, stainless steal hand tools and mass murder wars.
Hegelian Dialectic. Problem, reaction, solution.
Cheer~~~a transparent flammable plastic made in sheets from camphor and nitrocellulose, formerly used for cinematographic film.😊
And is Libby clear now, or is it still contaminated?
I love the vibe of these 50s era docs. The voiceovers, the accompanying orchestra background noise, the matter of fact teaching style. MAGA
Lyme disease
Very primitive looking methods of oil treatment. No attempts at removing the oil.
It is scary to think what kind of stuff these types of factories have laying around. There was a trucking company here in Australia that had a yard that backed onto a major motorway. There was also a walk way running along side it that linked a bus stop to the road on th other side of the trucking company yard. One day I had to catch a bus to this particular bus stop to pick up a part for my car and as I walked past the back of the trucking company yard I noticed two pallets of 44 gallon steel drums stacked on top of each other. Twp of the bottom drums I noticed were leaking slot a whitish grew. Substance and I could smell this very acrid smell I've never smelt before. Not like acid bit differently. I called the fire brigade and they eventually came out and actually blocked off the four lane motorway and cleared the factory as they removed the chemicals. Hardly anything was said about it on the news and it wasn't long after the company moved. Where the drums sat I could clearly see dents in the concrete of about half an inch deep. If it wasn't acid what the heck was it🤔
My left speaker liked this video.😁👍
Saw this film on one of the C-SPAN channels three or four years ago.
I was hoping to see the building of the hwy and why. Not a dam promo video. Think about your title from now on!

Trying to find a meaning of a song lyric and found this
Good ol' Johnny Chonco, always on the spot with that snort valve!
funi
what are the steps to prepare it ? , for scientific purposes ofc
When America was an economic powerhouse. These steel factories could, and should, still be pumping out millions of tons of steel. each year.
humans are the deadlisets animals in the world we hate each other and fight alot... meanwhile ants 💀
Many were injured by fire and smoke inhalation - man calmly lays down, gets wounds dressed while smoking a cigarette 😮
It seems Democrats have created every successful program
Must be why everything looked so clean back then. No bugs! 😅
That dude eating the DDT for sure got cancer and died an early death. If you were a citizen in the US from the 1940-1970’s you were just part of a giant chemistry experiment.
